FAQ
DEXA scan
What is a DEXA Scan?
A DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) scan is a medical imaging test that measures bone density and body composition, including fat, muscle, and bone mass.
Who should get a DEXA Scan?
Individuals looking to accurately assess their body composition, such as athletes, people monitoring their health or weight loss progress.
How should I prepare for a DEXA Scan?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal zippers or buttons. Avoid taking calcium supplements 24 hours before the scan. Additionally, for maximum accuracy, you’ll want to do the scan under the same circumstances each time. So, if you fast for the first scan, you may want to fast for subsequent scans, so that changes in your body composition are a reflection of actual change, rather than the presence of food.
Is a DEXA scan safe?
Absolutely, DEXA scans are generally safe as they involve very low levels of X-ray radiation, typically equivalent to the amount one would receive from a day of natural environmental exposure. However, it's crucial to note that, as a precautionary measure, DEXA scans are not recommended for pregnant women.
PHY scan
How long will it take for me to receive my PHY report?
Your PHY report will be available within a few minutes of your scan.
How long does it take each day to do my movement plan?
Each movement plan is made up of 6 movements and is designed to take roughly 20 minutes a day.
How are PHY Health reports created?
Phy Health customizable reports harness our vision technology to transform data from an individual’s body scan measurements into a comprehensive, personalized overview of an individual’s musculoskeletal health. These reports have been created by our team specializing in exercise physiology, kinesiology, and Physical therapy, allowing us to offer personalized recommendations designed to correct imbalances and enhance postural patterns. Each report contains a detailed analysis of the user's body alignment and inference of postural and movement patterns, enhanced by a proprietary scoring system (PhyScore) that identifies risk levels in different body zones. This comprehensive approach provides both the strengths and potential areas of vulnerability in one’s musculoskeletal structure. In short, Phy Health's personalized reports serve as a comprehensive guide for both individuals and health and wellness practitioners, allowing targeted preventative measures and more effective treatment strategies.

GUT panel
How long will it take to process my results?
Once our lab receives a sample and it passes QC (quality control), processing typically take 3-4 weeks to yield results. Your results will be then uploaded into your gut test portal account, in addition to an email notification letting you know they are available for you to view.
What information will the Gut Health test provide me?
The gut report will discover the bacteria and fungi that live in your gut. As part of the test you will receive a comprehensive report outlining:
- An overall gut score on a scale of 1 to 10. Think of it like a credit score for your gut.
- Comparison of your results to normal gut levels.
- Actionable wellness recommendations from BIOHM’s Microbiome-Trained Registered Dietitians based on your personal results.
Is the GUT Health test right for me?
If you are someone that is interested in learning more about your microbiome, then the BIOHM Gut Test Kit is right for you.
Whether you have digestive issues or not, this test will help provide you with actionable nutrition, lifestyle and supplemental recommendations.
Why is gut health important?
Think of your microbiome as your second brain. When you build up the right bacteria and fungi, your brain tells the rest of your body that it’s okay to feel good again. This is the reason gut health is crucial for overall health.

Is the BOD HEALTH blood test kit equivalent to standard labs?
Yes, we work with a CLIA/CAP accredited lab that performs extensive validation on each assay to meet federal CLIA requirements.

Do I have to fast before my test? For more accurate results, it is recommended that you fast for 8-10 hours prior to taking the test.
